Why do i need a COD?
A license to scrap! A Certificate of Destruction (COD) is issued when your car is destroyed for scrap and shows the authorities that the vehicle has been destroyed.
An essential part of its service, when a vehicle is sent for scrap metal, the COD certificate confirms that the vehicle has been scrapped. It's no problem for us to supply your COD if you tell us you require one.
We understand you may need proof your vehicle has been destroyed, and we’re happy to provide that information for you. Our Certificate of Destruction is available with every scrap car we buy, so there are no extra fees or forms to fill out. To help you get the COD you need, please let us know if you’d like one when you request a quote – and we’ll email it to your Sales Advisor as soon as possible.
What do i need to do to get a COD?
If you’re selling a car or need proof that it has been destroyed, we can provide a COD for no additional cost. Using our contact us form, simply add your request to the ‘Notes’ field. Upon payment of the additional fee, the COD will be emailed to you once the vehicle has been scrapped – plus an image of the signed COD.
How long does it take to get my COD after Request?
If you have decided to scrap your car, we can issue a COD certificate within five working days. It shows that your vehicle has been scrapped and is no longer going to be registered. The DVLA will then release the keeper records from their database.
