My insurance company has requested a COD (Certificate of Destruction)

When your car is demolished, you will receive a Certificate of Destruction (COD). Please specify if you require one when requesting a quote, and we will provide one to you as soon as feasible.

If you have asked your insurance company for a COD, we can provide one on completion of your vehicle. Please don’t forget to let us know when you request a quote – and we’ll ensure a copy is forwarded as soon as possible.

Why do i need a COD?

A license to scrap! A Certificate of Destruction (COD) is issued when your car is destroyed for scrap and shows the authorities that the vehicle has been destroyed.

An essential part of its service, when a vehicle is sent for scrap metal, the COD certificate confirms that the vehicle has been scrapped. It's no problem for us to supply your COD if you tell us you require one.

What do i need to do to get a COD?

If you’re selling a car or need proof that it has been destroyed, we can provide a COD for no additional cost. Using our contact us form, simply add your request to the ‘Notes’ field. Upon payment of the additional fee, the COD will be emailed to you once the vehicle has been scrapped – plus an image of the signed COD. 

How long does it take to get my COD after Request?

If you have decided to scrap your car, we can issue a COD certificate within five working days. It shows that your vehicle has been scrapped and is no longer going to be registered. The DVLA will then release the keeper records from their database.
